Covering: Prestonpans, Cockenzie, Port Seton, Longniddry, Aberlady.
The local landmark: The 1745 battlefield with its viewing mound sits beside Prestonpans, and the town's outdoor mural trail runs through the shore streets.
On the ground: Fishermen's cottages and terraced rows along the coast road, former mining streets inland and big new estates between the villages. Kerbside works well here: have everything at the door and the driver loads.
While you wait for the van: Prestonpans takes its name from the medieval salt pans worked by monks, and in 1745 the Jacobites won the Battle of Prestonpans here in well under half an hour.
