Covering: Pathhead, Ford, Crichton, Fala, Fala Dam, Tynehead.
The local landmark: Crichton Castle looks over the Tyne valley, and Telford's lofty Lothian Bridge carries the A68 over the Tyne Water at Pathhead.
On the ground: Cottages strung along the old coach road through Pathhead plus outlying farm roads, nearly all ground level access. Kerbside works well here: have everything at the door and the driver loads.
While you wait for the van: Crichton Castle's courtyard has a diamond faceted Italian style facade, built for the Earl of Bothwell in the 1580s and unique in Scotland.
