Covering: Peebles, Eddleston, Cardrona, Glentress.
The local landmark: Neidpath Castle, a medieval tower house, stands above a wooded bend in the Tweed a mile west of the town centre.
On the ground: Flats above the High Street shops, Victorian villas and modern estates, with single track roads up the outlying valleys. Kerbside works well here: have everything at the door and the driver loads.
While you wait for the van: The publishing brothers William and Robert Chambers were born in Peebles, and William later gave the town the Chambers Institution on the High Street.
